Great isabelle - for me too. Unfortunately Americans and Brits (and aussies...and swedes) tend to learn that drinking =get drunk this has become worse with for example college students in recent years - binge drinking- way back in my day we could have kegs on campus - now they are banned - so students carry low volume/high toxicity versions of alcohol much like prohibiton caused many to switch from beer to gin - when some thing's illegal you need to conceal it - and you conceal by consolidating - and you 'gulp it down' rather than drink socially.
I wish in the US we would : lower the drinking age to 18 if you can be drafted, own a gun, vote for president you should be able to have a beer!
teach younger people to drink moderately, socially and responsibily by providing a positive role model rather than reduce to a simple either/or.
