To give you the short answer: Yes, is does. There is a whole list of benefits. It will also improve focus and concentration.

What is important is thta you find the kind of meditation that fits you. There are thousands of different meditation techniques. Chose the one you feel most confortable with. For some further info and links to some meditatio n resources, you can check out my What is meditation? article.
