Is it possible to raise concentration through 14 minute meditation per day? With daily meditation I mean years of work, not a week.

I wanna know this because I don't want to spend years practicing wrong techiques.
I am asking this because I have been given advice on other techniques of improving concetration, but all of them are a bit of a stretch for me.
EDIT: Besides doing daily meditation, I'm also trying to keep being attentive while talking to others, listening music, playing video games and watching TV.
