What good is religion if this is the kind of results it gives us? Quote:
@Cartoonal,
"The fact is, there are enough passages in the Q'ran/Bible/Torah (delete as appropriate) for anyone to be able to defend any position they want, or attack any opinion they want. Religion has served it's function, and it's time to grow up as a species and accept our OWN destiny, and our OWN choices, without excuses, without apportioning blame to a bearded old man/fat bald toff/six-armed woman/dog/cannabis plant (delete as appropriate) who cannot be questioned."

I agree. Many of the founders of modern Western Civilization/science were one believers of one of the big four: Q'ran/Bible/Torah/budda. Religions has been used to support every matter of evil and good. Q'ran/Bible/Torah/buddhism are steeped in cultural bias and fallacies that do not withstand the scrutiny of modernism/postmodernism. But it can (and has) served a worthy purpose.
Dawkins and other atheists call religion intrinsically evil. But it is clearly the USE of religions that defines us not the other way around. Religion is man made. Like all other man made objects Guns, nuclear energy, aircraft it is our USE of these things that can be evil.
Religion is just a tool. It can be used for enlightenment or for a political agenda or to justify killing people.
