I don't like horror flicks because they scare me and throw off my inner self.

But the ones that scared the daylights out of me when I first saw them were Psycho and the The Exorcist. I was young when the Exorcist came out and that's when I stopped watching horror movies, except for the Silence of the Lambs series, which I watched, which scared me and grossed me out.
