not really. society has stigma, right or wrong, and maybe just in usa, which can be detrimental to a child.
legally i am talking more like the issue of name, and perhaps financial/support problems....as long as two people are together, even if married, maybe not so much....but if they breakup or one parent is left alone....this can be difficult.
again, unless one is financially independent and secure.
