I want wave too. I have a srong feeling it will revolutionize how people communicate information in the future. There's no other tool I know of that brings the necessary features together to make group work simple and quick.

I think the closest thing we have is forums, but to have a forum you have to set it up while google wave will just be there always ready for your new projects. Forums are also missing a couple of critical features for projects which means you also have to set up a wiki and issue tracker etc...
