Wow... This is one of the business plans that I have thought out in my head...
I will not be able to do this myself, because I have no fashion sense what-so-ever, nor any interest in fashion.
But the idea is interesting.
You know all the shows about make-overs on tv? People like that.
You know celeberties who have their personal shopper? "normal" people like that.
My business idea was this: (everybody anywhere is free to use this btw):
You "rent" yourself out as Shopping budy!
The first appointment with the client is in their house where you go through their wardrope, seeing what looks good on them from what they have, and advising them on what to trow away.
Of course this also includes a profile of what type of person they are, how they want to be perceived, what do they need (work cloths, going out, fancy, normal etc). Do they wear heals or not, do they wear skirts or not etc. Donīt forget to ask for their budget so you know which stores you can take them to.
Second part of it is shopping. You take them for 1 part of the day to go out shopping. You walk with them in the stores, get them to try on stuff etc. They are responsable for making the decision ultimately if they buy it or not. They are also the persons who pay at the cash register.
You charge them for 1 part of the day (around 2 hours) of consultation + 1 day part of shopping 3 or 4 hours.
You could also offer just the day part of consultation, but I would not suggest it.
Take at least some time every week to go into the stores to see what is there, so you know where you can take your clients.
You can also make deals with the stores that you get a small discount for all your clients or even some commission.
In order to make some more money you can offer a slight discount and take the people shopping in small groups of 3 or 4.
Money wise... lets see.. if you would make 5000 euros bruto a month:
You work 5 days a week
That is 5 x 4 days a month = 20 days a month.
You will work 6 billable hours a day (+ 2 hours a day bookkeeping, research, marketing etc)? = 120 hours a month
Per client you will need (2 + 3) = 5 hours
Per month your will need (120 / 5) = 24 clients a month
5000 / 24 = 210 Euros per client.
Alternatively you can have mother/daughter consultations for something like 300 euros in the same time.
If you use more clients per shopping visit you can offer smaller prices.
Of course, you can also try to start with smaller prices and have a smaller salary until you have made a name for yourself. For example, if you can live of 2500 euros per month you only have to charge 105 euros.
Marketing:
Have before and after pictures on your website as well as recomandations.
Use family and friends as test subjects.
I know that this is not really what you asked for, but it was just what I was thinking about a few days ago

Hope it helps
