C33 and Lioness - thanks for being voices of reason, it is a pleasant diversion.

Anyone who knows me knows that I do not have a huge ego, but online I do push my accomplishments as they show that I am not one of the crowd.

If I say something or give advice it means little, but if I give advice or say what has worked for me and I can back it up with more than just words then the people who are ready will be able to learn from me.

C33, you are spot on. I ready many, many books by successful entrepreneurs, most of them I have little in common with, most I do not aspire to in a business sense. But I do aspire to their tenacity and drive and their ability to stick with it "against the odds" and against all the naysayers.

Sometimes I just got inspiration from these men, sometimes I also learned something that I could adapt to my own life/goals.

The funny thing with these people thinking I need ego stroking is more a reflection of how they see things rather than how I am. If I needed ego stroking I could go out to everynight club in the city and get free entry, no waiting in line, free drinks every night and have my ego satisfied in REALITY, not in some virtual reality.

On top of that when I go out and am not immediately recognised I tell everyone I am a computer programmer - which is enough to stop most people asking more.

I do believe "The Secret" has been damaging, telling people to wish for something and they'll get it. Though looking at it from a marketing angle it was brilliant - they were selling the modern day equivalent of the Genies lamp - who wouldn't want that?

Brad Sugars has a business/self development company in Australia (though grwon much now) called Action International. As he says "It's called Action for a reason not 'yeah, I read the book once International'"

You need to be actively looking for you opportunities, you do also need to believe in them and "The Secret" can help at the start of your life changing, but it goes a lot deeper than that you really do need to do something everyday to get ahead.

Again to quote Brad Sugars "The opportunity of a lifetime comes along everyday" but it depends if you are prepared, have done the ground work, are actively looking to spot it, and if you are mentally ready to take it on.

Perfect example, I look up to Brad a lot, he is often seen as harsh, but I see him as a realist. He is in a completely different field but I have learned a lot from him and I have adapted many of his ideas and teachings to my own work and my website.
