That is 100% YOUR responsibility. Hugging never gets old for me -- it's a loving, soulful, rewarding gesture every single time.
I'm all for a big hug, but mostly from people where it would mean something more than just a habitual gesture.
If someone comes into a hug with me with blank, habitual vibe, I have the power to generate transformation of that hug. I've never had anyone energetically insist
on having our hug be meaningless.
A cultural norm isn't necessarily a soulless gesture; it depends entirely on what you have the willingness and personal power to generate in an encounter.
(p.s.. I was exaggerating when I said "everyone" ... we don't stop every single
passerby and hug.
