Have you people crying 'too expensive!' considered the costs of making the DVDs, the camera crew, the editing, the packaging, the postage and payments handling? Maybe producing too many sets that aren't sold?
Download options seem nice but also incur costs: setting up the site, payments handling for instance. People have to administer it too.
I'm not sure what the costs would come too, but it sure isn't free.
And: nobody is forced to buy the DVDs.
It seems a bit like saying BMW is too expensive for me. It is, but I don't complain about it
