A book I read recently had alcohol treated as a drug worse than cocaine, and it was only available through a doctors presescription etc. Quite an interesting take on it, as the only difference between alcohol and cocaine really is one has been legalised and the other hasnt. |
The cost of alcohol on society has to be staggering. The problem is the industry is one of the biggest adverstisers so mass media isn't going to be critical, but the subtle and not to subtle message of most alcohol ads are drink X and you'll be: a. happy, b. cool, c. get sex/be sexy.
