I, myself, have found that the sales tactics are a good indicator of a product or service's usefulness. Overly aggressive sales tactics seem to be encouraged or at least accepted by aggressive people, and I'm not really interested in aggressive people's suggestions, since I don't believe being aggressive is an effective way to get what I want (a healthy world). But some folks like aggression (or at least are used to it) so that's why people use it as a tactic (for sales, or personal development, or whatever). So that's why it still exists.
But me? I'm going to continue to try to avoid it, in suggestions, sales, and everywhere else, while still understanding that everyone has at least some understanding of the truth, and to look for that truth everywhere, even in the aggressive folks.
But I am sill looking for something that will sway the more intellectual types. Statistical facts are good, but facts alone doesn't do it because even intellectual types have emotions, baggage, and preconcieved notions about how the universe is supposed to be :-)
