You can't always judge a book by its cover. I don't find Steve particularly attractive either. But I found his expressions very pleasant, what he said and his body language felt good.
I probably just don't like his looks just because he has features that I am not at peace with in my own looks, so my mind enhances those features making Steve look worse subjectively than he does objectively.
