Correct me if I'm wrong, but I once heard that dreaming from a neurological standpoint in how the brain behaves was very closely related to watching a movie. This is because while one is subconscious or forced, the other is active and or passive (depending on how engaged you are with the film).
What about video games? Typically the gameplay doesn't pan in and out, the characters are moving in a sem-static camera view and it's interactive; thus you are not being passive about anything, because when you do...you die...or for a less visceral term, you lose. Could this be another alternative?
