Go to a 4 year college and use that experience to figure out what you want to do. I didn't figure out what I wanted to do until I was 30. You can't be expected to figure out what you want to do with your life at age 17. You just have to make sure that you are productive and moving in the right general direction. Think about what you would enjoy studying in college for the next 4 years and then worry about a job when you graduate.
My father told me to always make sure I was opening doors rather than closing them. If you go to school you will be opening doors because your education will allow you to do all sorts of things. If you become paralyzed by indecision and don't go to school you will be closing doors.
One word of warning: if you live in the US don't borrow a ridiculous amount of money to pay for school. If you graduate with $100k of loans you will have fewer options when you graduate because you will be forced to take the highest paying job.
Good luck and don't worry. You are way ahead of the game by asking these questions at an early age.
