Destruction is the beginning of creation. I went through the exact same phase, in almost the same way, including the burning of my notes, even with the regret part after. Years later, I realized my foolishness, the notes I can create "In The Now", as is said, are so far more advanced than my previous self even yesterday, or even half an hour ago, that I am only glad I had done so.
