I second everyone who said Old Yeller and The Yearling. They just don't make 'em like that anymore. Remember the scene where Jody has to put his beloved fawn out of his misery and in tears he yells out "I hate ya! I hope ya die!" to his parents. Heartwrenching.
Another oldie but goodie, Imitation of Life with Lana Turner. You simply cannot watch the funeral at the end with a dry eye. Also the scene where Annie tells Sarajane that she won't try to track her down anymore, she just wanted "to see my baby, one more time" ... waaaaah!
And the very last scene from Titanic, where Rose drifts off to sleep and goes up the ballroom staircase to the applause of all those who perished, to reunite with Jack again at last - classic.
The Elephant Man and Platoon both used the same music, part of a symphony, I think, in their final scenes. It was the music that brought the emotion. Does anyone know what it was?
