I find writing things down often helps me to focus.
I don't do it all the time. I've learned that for me, when the idea of writing something down - whether it's my intentions, my dreams, scripting my future - when the idea of writing it down feels good to me, I should do it. And when it doesn't call to me, I shouldn't force myself to write simply because it's something that I must do.
If you had asked me last month whether I write things down, I would have said, "No, not much anymore." Ask me now, though, and I'll tell you I do it every morning

It's been a very powerful tool for me lately.
