It is hard to follow a procrastination expert, but I can give some advice from my personal perspective. The 3 main things I've done is:
-
Write quarterly (or seasonal in non-business-speak) goals: Writing them down makes them official, and does not let me waver or change my mind. I also posted them on my blog so the people in my life can hold me accountable.
-
Keep a weekly planner moving towards those goals: I sit down on Sundays looking at my goals and aligning my plans to them. It means that I am focused on what is important rather than just reacting to emergency after emergency. Not a big deal, it is usually just a bullet-point list of 8-10 items that I keep with me and check off regularly.
-
Joined 43 Things (http://www.43things.com/): It is a really good way to keep on track, and allows users to cheer each other and give each other advice.
Good luck!
