Maybe I wasn't clear abou the subject of my post, and I'm sorry. My post was about not taking responsiblity for your finances and expecting things outside of you, to improve your life. I was just using the lottery as an example, because it's a popular way for people to try to get rich.

It's not about winning money, but about the feelings you have towards money in general and yourself. If you play the lottery for fun, then why not?
But if you play because you think this is the only way you can live the life of your dreams, then it's self-destructive. You're saying to yourself that you can't have what you want unless someone else gives it to you.
