A: Honesty is the best policy! If the truth hurts or could cause conflict, then we first learn how communicate effectively. It's about knowing the person well enough to know which are his/her hot buttons. We can still tell the truth and avoid pushing those buttons.
In NLP, we learnt about pre-framing. So before baring the truth, we can cushion the person first.
Telling a lie requires hundred more lies to cover for the first one. Furthermore, if the person finds out the truth in future, you are effectively breaking the trust.
