What about the goals/desires a person has that he apparently has no direct control over? He puts out an intention, maybe thinking "I sure wish this would happen," and then it just happens.

When I first started college, I applied for a single room at the dorm. I knew it was unlikely I'd get one, though I wanted it really bad. I prayed about it, saying I really wanted a single room, but if it would be better for me to have a double, that was ok too.

I got assigned a roommate and we got in touch, and she was a junior. She said she'd applied for a single room and decided if she didn't get it, she was moving off-campus.

So when I got to school, I had a single room. And the university had a policy that if you got a single room by default, you could keep it if you were willing to kick out the extra money for it.

The LOA and IM explains this sort of thing a lot better than working hard for a goal does.
