This has a lot to do with your physiology.
When I did polyphasic sleep for 5-1/2 months, subvocalization was reduced dramatically. More recently it also went down tremendously when I switched to eating raw foods.
I think subvocalization is caused by certain parts of the brain becoming overstimulated, resulting in endless mental chatter.
I don't recommend polyphasic sleep, but a more natural raw diet will eliminate many toxins from the diet that cause mental imbalances.
I like that my mind is much calmer and smoother when I eat a raw diet. It's more relaxing and less stressful, and it's much easier to concentrate without distraction.
Whatever you do, avoid anything with caffeine.
