I do not have any feelings that pertain to the location of lost DL, but if he has a job, chances are...they took a photocopy of it the day he hired in. Perhaps they have it on file and you can get the photocopy to at least prove that he did indeed have a DL to begin with. Perhaps the sec of state will help in getting a new one, with this proof, and other various pieces of identification. If his employer does not have a copy, and you have car insurance, and he is on the policy, chances are...they have a copy of it as well.
