My (unsolicited) advice is to put stuff like that as the first comment in the forum, or send it out to your list as an additional personal comment, instead.
Probably the only thing I will remember about this post is that Erin's hair used to be short! (But I'm with Erin...I like her longer hair!

Here's a comment someone left about that on my Facebook page:
"Nice segment. I like how you are getting people to consider things from other people's perspectives. Also, have to say that I love the part where you say how much you loved Erin's short hair cut. =) That particularly exemplifies the authenticity of your writing."
One person's distraction is perhaps another person's authentication.
