one of the things the author goes into is ball lightening - 'swamp spirits' - how for years skeptics brushed it off as halcenication/fabrications - until it could be created in the lab - and 'plasma physics' proved it could exist- but it goes to show you , if people lisetened to the skeptics it never would have been investigated.
