I gotta say, this advice seem kind of shady at first glance. Although it is true. If you take the blackhat approach, it could be considered manipulative and plain wrong, but if your intentions are good and you really care about this people and be a true friend for them, it could be the best thing to happen to you in college. Life is about relationships and college ones outlast so many others. They tend to be good investments, emotionally and in general.
The key is to give, and give, and give, without looking to get something out of it. If you are there for people, they will be there for you when you need them.
Be true to yourself and exploit the good willing person inside of you. Giving for the sake of giving is the best food for your soul
