Well, that's the thing. I don't believe in God, either. In fact, I know sworn atheists who have this same fear. It's not a belief; I don't really 'believe' that I will go to hell, it's just some sort of primal instinct. What's worse is that I'm already defying it. You may think you do not believe in God, but if you still fear his wrath and hell - your belief is still in place. Indeed, you may tried to change your beliefs and on the conscious level claim you do not believe but your fear is showing you the opposite.

You do not want to believe in God would probably be a more fitting statement.
