Start with small steps, and once you get those down the bigger ticket items will come more easily to you. Right after I separated from my ex-wife I was pretty much overwhelmed by everything like you are. There really wasn't an area of my life that wasn't a complete mess and I definitely wasn't in the frame of mind to deal with it which made it worse. I started by focusing on a few simple tasks. I made it a point to get my dogs out for a long walk twice a day. It was a simple thing, got me out in the world and was good for them. It also started to give a little structure to my chaotic life. Try not to fixate on all of the things you *need* to do--it'll just frustrate you more and make them seem all the more overwhelming. Just start to do a few simple things and build from there...
