Hi Joe. I would like to offer you a few thoughts on this.
Suppose you have a certain goal. For that goal to be achieved, certain things must happen. You could broadly classify those things into 3 categories:
1. Things which are definitely within your control.
2. Things which you are definitely able to influence.
3. Things which you are not able to control or influence.
In the above three points, I have used "control" and "influence" in the conventional, non-IM sense (because in the IM sense, there is theoretically almost nothing that you cannot control or influence).
Category 1 needs no explanation. Everyone accepts that. In fact, you already perceive Category 1 as self-evident and very important (a belief which on its own can already get you very far in life).
Category 3 is what people in this forum are trying to highlight to you. IM can do things for you here. Hold the correct thoughts and intentions, and the external opportunities, people, events, circumstances etc will present themselves in your life, at the right time, to help you achieve your goal -
even if you did not know beforehand what opportunities, people, events you needed; and therefore had not actually done anything to actively seek them out.
It's a kind of magic.
Sometimes you already know, or think you know, exactly what needs to happen in Category 1, for your goal to be achieved. Even in those cases, IM is helpful. Simply because by IM'ing, you cause Category 3 things to happen, that make your goal happen even faster or more easily.
For example, in an older thread in this forum, I wrote about earning more money and finding a new job; and IM'ing these intentions. Of course I know what Cat 1 actions I need to take - obvious starters would be looking at job ads, sending my CV out etc. However, what actually happened to me is that after I did my IM, four job opportunities came straight to me - various people called me directly and asked me to join their organisation -
even before I had actually looked at a single job ad or sent out my CV anywhere.
