There's
another thread on music and I/M around, but it was tackling the connection between music and the subconscious, and what I'd like to discuss here is the use of music during fully-conscious visualizing.
What I do is I visualize myself having achieved my desired outcomes, and I found that music greatly augments my ability to do so. It enhances my emotions, and it helps me stay immersed in it for a longer time. My thoughts are also less likely to stray away, or to start contradicting the reality I'm visualizing.
The reasoning for this approach is based on Abraham's method of focusing on a pure thought for at least 68-seconds. By pure thought, I personally understand holding a thought as if it were truth, and not contradicting it in any way. In practice, I visualize myself acting something out as if my desire was already manifested.
In the process of doing so, I've found a number of tracks that work great for me:
"You Raise Me Up" (either by Westlife or Josh Groban, take your pick) -- I've been using this to visualize the ideal relationship, and I've also visualized myself singing it (with a perfect voice) at our wedding
"Path" by Apocalyptica is great for visualizing very fast-paced activity; I personally use it to visualize myself speed reading around 10000WPM
"Faraway" also by Apocalyptica -- I've been using this to visualize myself living out mornings in my perfect life (which generally involves me waking up, taking a walk on the beach, being amazed at the beauty of it all, and directing love towards all that exists)
"A Love Before Time" (the Chinese version, so that I don't need to pay attention to the lyrics) by CoCo Lee -- general purpose, great at evoking feelings of invincibility, of being able to take on anything
I have a bunch of others that I repeatedly use, and pretty much any music can work (unless it has negative lyrics), but these are the ones I've found work best for me.
Is anyone else doing this?
