Yes, I think ego involves memory...but mostly subconscious programming that has been hammered into our heads over the years.
I think we can transcend ego by speaking to ourselves in a kind, loving manner - like you would speak to a wide-eyed child who is ready to soak up the world and believe everything you have to say. Tell them all the beautiful, wonderful things about this world. Tell them how great they are and that they can do anything they set their mind to. They will believe you if you tell them enough times...and then they will fly...
