I should perhaps add, that I am taking responsibility for the initial formation of this group in order to create more support and accountability in my life. I have compiled a rough draft group operations manual, which can be altered by the group after meetings begin, but which should generally resonate with you before you join.
Before anyone can join we have to meet in person for a kind of interview to check compatibility. Membership is by invitation only and group size is limited. My idea is to get a real diverse group going so we can all benefit from that diversity and start meetings in August or, at latest, the beginning of September. Anyone who doesn't resonate or feel compatible with this group is free to form their own Mastermind.
Basically until the first meeting I am the leader and organizer and my vision for the group will get it off the ground. The day of the first meeting will be the day the group takes leadership of itself and members will take turns facilitating meetings. All decisions from that point on will be made by the group as a whole and any changes or additions must be adopted unanimously.
I've chosen the Bellevue Bar in Bern as the start location for the twice monthly meetings basically because I like it there, because it is a central and discreet location, and because it will filter out anyone who is uncomfortable with that choice. (A coffee costs little more there than elsewhere). Meeting in homes is not an option because I don't live directly in Bern, and people from around the Canton should have the opportunity to join in a central location. Meeting on neutral ground has its own benefits.
I've also chosen English as the language for the group firstly because it is my own mother language and I spend enough time speaking German, but also because I want the group to be open to expats under whom the common language is English.
