There appears to be a strong community around raw food lifestyles, so are their any original recipes specific to raw food (i.e. not imitating other foods)? I imagine that if there were, it would give the raw movement more credibility with the wider population.
I mean if I get given a choice between a warm, fresh apple pie, and a raw apple pie, I'm probably going to go for the first one. But if I were to be offered a unique raw dish that is unlike anything else I have tried, I'm gonna give it a go, which in turn may lead to me seeking out more info on raw food, which may in turn have me contribute to this community in some way.
The pie looks delicious by the way. |
The point of imitating cooked foods is a draw. It's saying "Hey, I can choose to be healthy and still not give up the foods that I love."
I don't think the idea is to surpass cooked foods. I mean, you're right, a nice warm apple pie out of the over is delicious. But it's also terrible for you. For a person who loves apple pie, a raw apple pie is a nice alternative. No, it may not taste quite the same, but it's still delicious and it's nourishing at the same time.
