What else -

A guide can even direct you through *other people*. I can't tell you how many times somebody showed up in my life to help or direct me, who turned out to be another acolyte/pupil (?) of Traveler. I usually feel a sense of kinship with his other pupils. We tend to all have the same values and often report feeling strongly about the same things - I realize (crazily enough) that I was recently involved with someone who could easily have been one of his pupils, at least subconsciously. The resemblance between the two of them was outright uncanny. Of course, I have been asking Traveler for help with finding a "traveling companion".

Very few are this powerful though. I would say most of what we think of as guides, are thoughtforms/egregores/subconscious voices and archetypes - that is, I thought this before I met Traveler. And met all these other people who have met him.

It's possible that he's something different from a standard issue guide, but I'll make another post about him.
