If you want a professional blog (make money with it) it's better to have your own domain name. Doesn't cost that much. You have full control and SEO has more options. Plus you can move your blog if necessary. With blogger or wordpress.com you can't, or not as easily.
I recommend Wordpress. It does everything I want and need in blogging software. Plus there's lots of add-ons, themes etc.
