Here's some things to keep in mind. At one point Frank Sinatra couldn't get a gig singing. Bill Gates was just a college dropout. Consider the implications had they thought "gee, other people don't think I'm doing well. Maybe I should quit singing/go back to college?"
Another great story--while in business school a guy named Fred Smith got a C on a business plan project. A few years later he took that idea and turned it into a little company you may have heard of called FedEx. He could have easily thought "my idea stinks" based on his professor's assessment and tossed it into the trash can. He dismissed this negative perception and things worked out pretty well for him...
