Because in Cosmology and Physics there is an actual theory (several different models) that physical multiple universes exist.
There is a test that can be done with quantum computers and qbits that will be done in the near future that may be able to prove or lend credibility to the theory.
As with most other discoveries we have to think about it even though it is not yet proven. The only way to prove it is of course to think about it
