I do think that there is such thing as too much sleep. I firmly believe that human body doesn't require more than 6 hours at a time. My schedule change wasn't as dramatic as yours because I take a nap. I sleep about 5.5-6 hour at night with 30 minute to an hour nap, and feel loads better than when I slept 8.5-9 hours a night. More passionate activity has something to do with it, but I do believe that sleeping less is actually more productive. It's kind of counterintuitive, but you can't argue with personal experience. I always thought a nap, even for 20 minutes, helps a great deal, but some people find they don't need it, so that's OK too.
