Good point. More often than not, people go to college because they are conditioned to believe that it is the only way they are to succeed. "Go to college, get good grades, get a good job." Look at all the reports out there that spew the numbers about how much more money people with college degrees earn than those that do not have that degree. It makes people afraid and almost scares them into going to college.
It sounds to me like you already have a pretty clear purpose in life and know exactly what you want to do. Follow your gut, and do whatever it is that you are passionate about and damn anybody who gets in your way!
College is great for some people. There are certainly people who go to college with a clear goal and career in mind, and then go on to live fulfilling lives serving others via that path. However, the problem I have with college is that we are forced to believe that we will not amount to anything if we don't go.
Also, you seem to have a pretty good head on your shoulders at such a young age. I don't doubt that you'll do well in whatever path you choose!!
