I think you should grow up and stop needing their approval for every little thing.
A lot of "disappointment" is created in your own mind. You're an adult and make your own decisions. they love you. All you need to do is love them back and accept them for what you perceive as their limitations.
I'd suggest stopping trying to "help them" and just focus on your own life. To me disowning one's parents because you feel you disappointed them is kind of crazy. They took good care of you until you became an adult. They won't always be around. Love them and enjoy the time you have with them.
