I'm adapting to an Everyman schedule right now. I started 6 days ago, and have overslept twice. If I have no reason to get up early, I go back to sleep out of boredom. It hasn't had any effect on me so far (no tiredness from oversleeping, Uberman oversleep made me feel terrible for two days), but I'm trying to quit oversleeping altogether. I'm hoping to fix that today by taking a walk or trying something else new (nothing on TV at 6am but the A-Team). My current schedule is:
3am - 6am core
20-minute nap between 11am and 1pm
20-minute nap 8pm - 10pm
20-minute nap midnight - 1am
My schedule requires really radical times for sleeping (6,8,2 hours between), but I've been changing my sleeping schedule to see what's best for me. I really like the flexibility of Everyman.
I'm gonna try to move my core to 2am-5am tomorrow,
keep the noon nap where it is,
move the next to 5:30pm,
and the next to 10pm. My schedule won't always allow that with a part-time job, but it's so flexible that I can move a nap 2-3 hours or skip a nap with little side effects.
So on Sunday I can skip my noon nap (work),
Friday skip my 5:30 nap,
and Monday move my core to 1am (hopefully), and the noon nap to 9am.
Anyone considering polyphasic, but has a conflicting or changing schedule, should REALLY try Everyman.
