Dealing with a death is hard, a couple years ago I lost my grandfather and he was someone I didn't get to see much but it made me wish I had seen him more. Living on the opposite side of the globe made it hard to get in contact with him.
Try to keep your head up and don't try to avoid the grief, talk about your feelings and while drinking and smoking seem like a quick release they will end up doing more harm then good if you let it continue.
