Trina -
Although it's been several weeks since you posted, I'd like to share what worked for me. Your post and my history with food/body issues sound very similar. (Disclaimer - I'm not claiming to be cured. I think it's like alcoholism - it will be with me for life).
My process -
1. Mindset - This is the only body I'm going to get. I decided to love it and accept it JUST LIKE IT IS TODAY.
2. Mindset - I made a conscious decision to quit a lifetime of using food emotionally (I'm sad - I'll eat! I'm happy - I'll eat! I'm bored - I'll eat! I'm in love - I'll eat! He dumped me - I'll eat!), and CONSCIOUSLY began viewing food as being essential fuel for my body and nothing more.
3. Action - I did not go on yet another diet. I made lifestyle changes. I changed the way I eat for the rest of my life.
4. Mindset - I absolved myself of any and all guilt associated with food. I still enjoy the occasional feast or decadent treat. I savor it greatly. Then I go right back to my life-food-plan the next day.
5. Action - I do SOMETHING physical every day. Walk 30 minutes. Park further away. Work out at the gym. Play basketball with the kids. Walk the dogs. Take the stairs. You get the idea. I want this body to be strong enough to keep up with me as I age...
Since adopting these rules a little over two years ago, I've lost 45 pounds, am much stronger, more relaxed, have more energy...
You can do it.
