That is a good point you make about the word "spirituality" Eric Roosevelt. However, I don't think it necessarily has to be about spirits. To me, spirituality has to do more with unearthly or ethereal experiences in a paradisiacal sort tof way. Do you know what I mean? In other words, reality cannot be known simply by use of the senses alone because reality is not completely material in nature. This is something the rational mind cannot comprehend. That is why we are all in this forum - we know there is more to reality than what "meets the eye."
