I was first introduced to the term "synchronicity" by reading Carl Jung. I believe he is the person who first coined the term, although others before him certainly discussed the ideas therein. As I understand Jung's point of view, synchronicity is the universe acting in favor of your deepest desires (conscious or unconscious).

Defining "universe" is the tricky part. Is "universe" just another way of saying "God," "Source," "Mother," "Father," etc.? What if I think of "universe" as being as finite as a synapse? Would I be in control then?

Seeking spiritual truth always leads back to the idea of free will vs. determinism. When I feel free, I'm often confronted with something that feels fatalistic. When I feel like a victim of fate and pretederminism, I'm confronted with my ability to shape, change, control my own destiny. What force is really at work? I don't know.

I do know that synchronicities are temporary moments. They rarely indicate a lasting truth for me. To me, synchronicities serve as hints at the psychic potential of my own mind. The synchronicities I predict make me feel like some sort of knower or medium. The ones I don't predict serve to remind me of the interconnnectedness I feel with everything earthly, and often energy itself.

The slightest thought creates a ripple that anyone could feel. Synchronicities are hints at our own cognitive potential. Synchronicities are clues to our true desire. Synchronicities are reminders of our free will and our fate. It's as though we are free, but something wants us on a certain path. Is that something "us," some aspect of our composite selves, or something external from us.

From my experience with astral projection and other forms of spiritual travel, I think that we are all composed of multiple "selves." It is my opinion that a "guide" is not an external entity, but rather a member of our consciousness team. We can add members to this team (and maybe lose members too). Some synchronicities help us find our team.

Those are some of my thoughts at least. I will stop babbling now.
