I wish you both luck and courage to cut your addiction. Maybe this shock to your life could be a good occasion to cut away the social circle that keeps you into the habit of smoking? It is all the more difficult to quit when others around you don't. In any case, there are countless ressources out there for smoking quitters, and I am sure you'll get encouragements and advice if you open a support thread here.

I saw 2 of my friends stop using weed/hash (to which they were severely addicted) a few years ago. It was extremely hard for them, but they made it. They are completely new men now.
