Oftentimes, if I write out my dream in detail, what seemed to have come out of nowhere suddenly starts making sense, connecting to things I've recently experienced or been concerned about.

Most of the time it's relatively mundane, but then there are other things that I dream about which I'm amazed were important enough to me to show up in my dreams. That's always very telling.

So keeping a detailed dream journal might work. Write out everything you saw, did and felt. This will help cement it in your brain, and as you mull over it throughout the day, you'll be able to go back to your journal and make notes about what each detail meant.

Also, keeping a dream journal is a great step towards improving your dream recall!
