Default Why Google Reader?

I currently use Thunderbird, because I like that I can look at all my email messages and RSS feeds in one place. It helps me be more productive. I spend the morning reading and responding to email, posting blog entries, and noting ideas for articles. When I had my RSS feeds in another tool, I never looked at them.

But as someone else wrote, it's slow and I'm starting to be annoyed by that. So I want to know why people like the tools they like.

Why do you like Google Reader? I tried the old version, and I didn't like that I had to have a separate Web page open to use it. Same problem with Bloglines.
